My name is Michelle and this is my new blog. I've started quite a few blogs in the past but all of them are abandoned. I aim to maintain this blog and hope this time I can keep the promise. :)
Okay. A little bit about me. I was quite content working as a project manager for a small internet outsourcing company, PODDCorp, in Cebu just a couple-o-months ago but now, I am jobless and a full-time wife expecting our first baby on February. Oh, and we're based in Orem, Utah now for maybe 3 years.
2009 is quite a roller coaster of events for me and its not even over yet. I mean, we still have 2 months to go. A brief overview of my year:
Jan '09 - Ate Bing got married and I was a maid-of-honor. First time ever that I had a role in any wedding.
Feb '09 - Gigi proposed and it was one of the best days of my short life. First time I own any jewelry of value. Lol.
Mar '09 - 'Pamanhikan'. In Philippine custom, it is a pre-wedding tradition where the groom asks the bride's hand from her family. Anyways, what we had was a bit informal. What really happened was Gigi and his family brought food for us to share between the families and then we just talked about wedding plans. It was quite awkward, I tell you. Hehehe. I am not big with social and 'mature' talks. Another event happening in March that gave us quite a scare was Papa got hospitalized. The cause was some kind of complication in his blood pressure, kidney and high Uric acid. All went well and thanks to iCare health insurance, all of the expenses were covered. Also, Sam arrived from Utah. So cool. Had my Ecotools brush and Dodong's iTouch.
Apr '09 - Prenuptial pictorials. It was fun pausing for the camera. We are camera shy and were not comfortable kissing for the camera, lol. It was embarrassing doing all that in front of our mothers! Haha. Euw. Anyways, it was fun and we shot at 3 different locations. The photos were all worth the cost and effort.
May '09 - Pre-cana. This is a pre-wedding requirement where all couples planning to get married in a Catholic church have to attend a 1 1/2 day seminar. Speakers talk about natural family planning (the only 'natural' that I absolutely don't recommend), the meaning of love, expectations of wedded life, etc. Another significant event happening on May was Gigi received an offer to work in Western Wats headquarters in Utah! Wow, it was quite a shock for us. Our lives are changing in front of our eyes.
Jun '09 - THE wedding. Probably the BEST day of my life. :) Also, in June, we found out we're pregnant. It was stressful, I tell you. We now had a baby and an uncertain life in the US. The thought that kept us going was the baby would be a US citizen and will have a choice of having a better future. A choice most of us do not have. We also found out that best friend was also expecting a baby. Same month. Hahaha. Okay, that made me happy. I have someone to do this preggy stuff together. Also in June was the bridal shower and Gigi's eventful stag party. LOL. They went to this club with strip dancers and I was told the girls there are quite talented.
Jul '09 - Gigi's Bday. Had dinner at one of Cebu's resto. We were also in a state of hiatus for a few weeks during this month as we are still waiting for the Marriage Certificate before we can proceed to work on our Visa requirements. Eventually, it arrived and I was then able to apply for my passport.
Aug '09 - Siloy Festival in Alcoy with Jereme and Mark. I also got my passport.
Sept '09 - Last day of work at PODDCorp. We also had the Visa interview appointment at the US embassy in Manila. The preparation and the thought of the interview was SCARY. We tried to prepare and practice possible questions and Gigi was a bundle of nerves. LOL. Thankfully, the consul didn't give us any trouble at all, just 4 questions and voila, Visa approved. Went home to Iligan to spend time with family. We also had the despidida. I was sad, but tried not to show it. At the same time, an adventure was about to unfold and we were excited. :)
Oct '09 - Bade our last goodbyes to family and relatives. The next time we would see each other will be through the internet. Hehe. And that made it less painful. Thank God some smart people invented the internet. Probably the most useful invention in the world. Anyways, our flight to US was on October 6 and it was a long and tiring flight. I don't want to do it again. Orem is a nice suburban city, with ominous mountains with snow caps in the background. More about Orem on future posts. :) We had the ultrasound and our baby is a GIRL. We're thinking of names and a few suggestions would be appreciated. :)
Nov '09 - The month has just begun but we finally experienced the Daylight Saving Time (or is it end of the DST?, not sure). Anyways, the time was just reset the time to 1 hour earlier. Like if it was 10AM, you would have to reset the clock to 9AM. I found out it was Benjamin Franklin who first suggested the DST ~ as mentioned in the National Treasure 1 movie. Hehe.
So there. That is my year at a glance. The post was quite long but I had fun reminiscing and writing it. Hehe.
This blog will contain everything that I've been doing, my interests, hobbies and etc. I am fond of internet marketing and I would probably post stuff that I've been trying.
So long. :)
