Jogo

I just have to say this so I can move on:

Voting for Erap the second time around is a classic example of being moronic. I am just thankful he didn't win. But that was close!

Love, peace and happiness!

Pacquiao for the Win!

We were at the park last Sunday. An Argentinan came to us to borrow a lighter for their grill and asked what nationality we are, so we told him. And he said, "Filipinos? Pacquiao, yeah?"

Contemplating the Philippines

It's election time again and I am devastated to see Joseph Estrada on the 2nd place in the current standings, just a few million votes below Noynoy Aquino. Yes, he was the ex-President who got impeached and imprisoned for corruption and plunder. Yes, he was the President who starred in the 'Erap Jokes'. And yet, the same people who ousted and ridiculed him are now voting for him again instead of fine candidates such us Gibo Teodoro! Such excellent display of DUMBNESS by the Filipino people. BRAVO! My God, we are such retards!

When can the Filipinos see the silver lining in this dark storm cloud that's been raging on for ages? I see no hope in the immediate future. Will I see it in my lifetime? I feel sad and angry and I take no pride at being a Filipino right now. In fact, I can't remember being proud of being a Filipino ever. I grew up being taught that the Youth are the hope of the country. I have outgrown my youth and I'm still not seeing any major change! When can we step up and flush out these bad habits we inherited?! When can these dumb masses die out so we can step up and actively start thinking for our future?!

I was never really involved in the elections, being away and I can't vote. But I hoped and prayed that the Filipinos would smarten up and choose wisely this time. There were emphatic clangs of praises and conviction for Gibo Teodoro in Facebook among my friends. He seemed to be the popular choice of the thinking Filipinos and I had hope. But our number isn't enough to push him to the top. He's currently at the 4th position right now and I don't know if he could still catch up. My gut tells me he can't and again, the choice of the dumb Filipinos will win. :(

If Aquino wins and be the next Filipino President (I certainly pray it won't be Estrada), I just wish he won't make too much damage to the already battered Philippines. Because I still have a daughter who will grow up in that country. :(

Judge Alex, Judge Joe and Judge Judy

They are my afternoon friends. LOL. I watch them everyday at Fox from 1PM to 5PM with the Ellen Show as a sort of "commercial break" in between Judge Joe and Judge Judy.

Real cases, real people, real drama on television.

This is usually the time Lincy takes a nap and I grab this chance to clean house, surf the web, perhaps do some designs for 99designs and etc.

Baptism Class

So Te Luz, Apple and I had attended the Baptism class yesterday with Father Dave. It went well until Father Dave discussed the role of Godparents. The priest told us that the ninangs have an important role of helping the parents make a good Christian example. So it is important that the Godparents are Christians and that if they're married, they should be married in church. LOL. And we were like, WHAT?. Of course we didn't vocalize the sentiment. Apple is yet to be married in church when they go home to Pinas. So we were kicking each other under the table like guilty children. LOL. Then Te Luz told us later on that she'd kicked Father Dave accidentally. BUSTED. Haha. That was why Father Dave asked them (Te Luz and Apple) individually if they were married in church. Of course, Apple can't lie to the priest. Then Father said in this case, only Te Luz should be the Godmother. Oh well. I still say ninang japon si Apolski and all of my other friends. hehe.

And then one more kicker. Father said it is impossible to have the baptism rite this coming Saturday because they're having a retreat. Uh-oh. I have called the parish office last Monday and I asked when the actual blessing will be held. They told me Baptisms are conducted about 30 minutes before mass. So I assumed it would be this Sunday (May 9). They didn't tell me it will be pre-scheduled with the priest. No problem except I've already sent out an invitation via Facebook announcing Lincy's Christening to be held this Sunday on Mother's Day. LOL. Okay, I guess I will have to send another invitation with the change of date. Hehehe.

Winco Orem

Winco opened in Orem last Monday, May 3, 2010. It's a value supermarket much like Colonade in Cebu. We meant to go during the opening but I didn't feel like it then, so we went yesterday instead. Lots of products and many are super value, too. There were lots of shoppers when we went there at about 6PM, probably because of the novelty of the store. We hope shoppers would wind down a bit when the novelty fades off. I don't like shopping much when we have to constantly navigate the cart among a sea of people. Anyways, below are my favorite items in the store. I didn't get to photograph much because of the people and Lincy was a bit fussy. Will take some more shots when we get back there.

Candies!

Snacks, much like Boy Bawang, Safari and Cock & Duck. Lots of nuts, too.

Gourmet Coffee!

How it works is that there are some plastic bags and you just scoop up how much you would like. You can weigh them, too, then write down the Bin # where you got them. These are by the pound.

Digital Scrapbooking

I got really interested in scrapbooking lately and I'm spending most of my online time researching and watching scrapbooking tutorials. Love it. I've always loved paper crafting since I was little but I never really got serious with it. Now that I have all the time in the world, for the time being, I think I would want to start scrapbooking and cardmaking. I would have to scrape for funds to buy materials, so it won't be anytime soon.

Since papers and other materials aren't at my disposal, I tried digital scrapbooking instead. Here's my first attempt. It's an invitation for my baby's Christening on Mother's Day. I posted it on Facebook as an electronic invite to our friends. :)

Materials used:
Happy Go Lucky kit
Spring Breeze kit
Cluster Frame

I adjusted the color balance in Photoshop for some of the elements to achieve the look I wanted. :)
